Within the framework of the Rural Infrastructure Development Project, a meeting was held with representatives of the World Bank

A meeting with representatives of the Rural Infrastructure Development Project was held at the head office of the Joint Project Implementation Group under the Ministry of Economy and Finance. At the beginning of the meeting, the newly assigned project manager from the World Bank, Simon Sottsas, was introduced.

The Rural Infrastructure Development Project, which focuses on constructing and repairing social and infrastructure facilities, covers 306 villages across 21 districts in 5 regions (Fergana, Andijan, Namangan, Jizzakh, and Sirdarya regions).

As of today, 265 facilities have been completed and put into operation, including 27 schools, 13 kindergartens, 3 medical institutions, 88 road facilities, 6 bridges, 88 subprojects for improvements to the drinking water network, 1 drainage facility, and 39 subprojects for power supply system maintenance. In addition, 160 facilities are currently under construction or renovation, with the contracting tenders for 5 more facilities recently finalized.

During the meeting, challenges in implementing the Rural Infrastructure Development Project were discussed, with a focus on leveraging the experience of IFI specialists and JPIU employees to resolve these issues.

The agenda also included preparations for 2 Phase of the Rural Infrastructure Development Project and the drafting of preliminary documents.
